Walk the South West Coast Path from Lower Pennycrocker Farm near Boscastle: routes to Tintagel and Crackington Haven, plus tips for north Cornwall walks.
Staying at Lower Pennycrocker Farm puts you a short hop from one of the most dramatic stretches of the South West Coast Path. Here is how to make the most of walking the north Cornwall coast from your pitch near Boscastle.
Why walk the coast path from a Boscastle campsite
The coast between Crackington Haven, Boscastle and Tintagel is high, wild and quiet — tall cliffs, hidden coves and wide sea views. Camping about two miles from Boscastle means you can be on the path early, before the day visitors arrive, and back at your tent or caravan for a hot free shower in the evening.
Walks to try near Boscastle
Boscastle harbour and the headlands
Start in Boscastle and climb out of the harbour onto the headlands for big views along the coast. It is a good first walk to get your bearings.
Boscastle towards Tintagel
Head south-west along the cliffs towards Tintagel, around seven miles from the farm by road. Bossiney is on the way if you want a beach stop.
North towards Crackington Haven
Northwards, the path rolls towards Crackington Haven and The Strangles — some of the steepest, most rewarding walking in Cornwall. Read our beaches near Boscastle guide for more on these coves.
Tips for walking the north Cornwall coast
- Wear proper walking boots — the path is steep and can be muddy.
- Check the weather and tide times before you set off.
- Carry water, snacks and a waterproof, even on sunny days.
- Keep dogs on leads near cliff edges and livestock (see our dog-friendly camping notes).
- Plan your return — linear walks need a lift or a careful timetable check.
