in our own words

Looking for camping near Bude without the crowds of a big holiday park? Lower Pennycrocker Farm is a quiet, family-run campsite at St Juliot, about two miles from Boscastle and around 15 miles south of Bude. It's an easy drive up the coast to Bude's beaches, sea pool and canal, and a peaceful place to come back to at the end of the day.
Why stay near Bude, not in it?
Bude is a lively seaside town, and in summer its campsites and roads can be very busy. Staying a short drive away gives you the best of both: easy days out on Bude's beaches, then quiet evenings on our open farm fields with big skies and space around your pitch.
From our campsite, Bude is about 15 miles, usually around 25 to 30 minutes by car. On the way, you pass some of North Cornwall's best beaches, including Crackington Haven, Widemouth Bay and the coves in between.
About our campsite
Lower Pennycrocker Farm has been in the same family for more than 80 years. Colin and Karyn run the campsite, and it's a simple, traditional farm site rather than a holiday park.

Things to do in Bude
Bude has plenty to fill a day or more.
Beaches
Summerleaze and Crooklets are the main town beaches, with sand, rock pools and lifeguards in season. North of the town, Sandymouth and Northcott Mouth are wilder, with dramatic rock formations at low tide. Read our Sandymouth and Northcott Mouth guide.
Bude Sea Pool
The sea pool at Summerleaze is a partly man-made tidal swimming pool, refreshed by the sea at high tide. It's a popular spot for a safer swim.
Bude Canal
The Bude Canal is lovely for a gentle walk or cycle along the towpath, away from the beaches.
For more ideas, see our Bude day trip guide.

A long, sandy beach south of Bude, popular with families and surfers. Read our Widemouth Bay guide.
The Strangles
A wild, remote beach reached by a steep path. See our Strangles guide.
