Camping for couples in Cornwall

in our own words

Evening sky over farm fields and the sea near Boscastle

If you're looking for a quiet camping break for two in Cornwall, Lower Pennycrocker Farm is a peaceful, family-run campsite at St Juliot, about two miles from Boscastle. With open fields, sea views, dark skies and the South West Coast Path about half a mile away, it's a lovely place to escape together.

Why couples choose our campsite

Peace and quiet

We're a simple farm site, not a holiday park. There's no bar, entertainment or play area, so evenings are calm. Groups are limited to eight people, which helps to keep the site peaceful.

Space and views

Our open grass fields give you room to breathe, with views across the countryside and sunsets over the sea.

Walking from the campsite

The coast path is about half a mile away, and Boscastle is about two miles by lanes and paths. Leave the car parked and walk.

Dark skies

On clear nights, the stars are wonderful. Read our sunsets and stargazing guide.

Prices for two

Per night:

  • Two adults: £20.
  • Electric hook-up: £7.
  • Dogs: £2 each, maximum two.

A couple with electric hook-up pays £27 a night. See pitches and prices.

What we offer

  • Pitches for tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans.
  • Parking beside your pitch.
  • Free showers, toilets, a disabled toilet and a washing-up room.
  • Awnings free of charge.
  • Dogs welcome, maximum two, on a lead.

Things to do as a couple

Boscastle

Walk to Boscastle harbour, explore the village, and stop at a pub or café. Read our camping in Boscastle page.

Tintagel

About seven miles away, Tintagel has its castle, legends and dramatic coast. See our Tintagel guide.

Coast walks

Walk the cliffs from Boscastle to Tintagel, or north towards Crackington Haven. See our best walks from Boscastle.

St Nectan's Glen

A magical woodland walk to a waterfall. Read our St Nectan's Glen guide.

Port Isaac

About 15 miles away, Port Isaac is a beautiful fishing village. See our Port Isaac day trip.

Bodmin Moor

About six miles inland, with open moorland and Rough Tor. See our Bodmin Moor guide.

Quiet beaches

North Cornwall has some wonderfully wild beaches. Bossiney Haven near Tintagel and the Strangles near Crackington Haven are reached by steep paths, which keeps them quieter. Always check the tide times before you go down. See our Bossiney Haven guide and our beaches page.

A rainy day for two

If the weather turns, visit the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle, take a slow lunch in a pub, or drive to Launceston for its castle and shops. See our rainy day ideas.

Romantic touches

  • Watch the sunset from the clifftops.
  • Take a picnic to a quiet cove.
  • Enjoy a cream tea in Boscastle.
  • Stargaze from your pitch on a clear night.
  • Have dinner at a harbourside pub.

Eating out

Boscastle has pubs and cafés about two miles away. See places to eat in Boscastle. In summer, it's worth booking a table for the evening, especially at weekends. For a special meal, Port Isaac and Padstow have a wider choice of restaurants.

Cooking at camp

Some of the best meals on a camping trip are the simplest. Pick up local produce on the way, cook on your stove, and eat outside as the sun goes down. Our washing-up room makes clearing up easy. See our Cornish food guide for ideas.

Camping with your dog

Many couples bring their dogs. Dogs are welcome, maximum two, at £2 each per night, kept on a lead. See our dog-friendly camping page.

When to come

We're open from 1 April to 31 October.

  • Spring: wildflowers and quiet paths.

  • Autumn: calm weather, golden light and fewer crowds. See our autumn camping guide.

Outside the school holidays, the site and the coast are especially peaceful.
