When to book, what to check and why booking direct with a small family campsite makes sense.
Booking a campsite in Cornwall can feel like a race, especially for the summer holidays. Here's how to secure the pitch you want at a fair price, with tips from Lower Pennycrocker Farm near Boscastle.
When to book
- School summer holidays: the busiest period. Book as early as you can.
- Bank holidays and half terms: also popular, especially late May and October half term.
- Spring and September: often more flexible, though popular weekends still fill.
We're open from 1 April to 31 October. Check live availability in the booking bar on our home page.
Understand how pricing works
Campsites price in different ways: per pitch, per person, or a mix. Some add extra for awnings, dogs, electricity, showers or peak dates. Always compare the total for your group.
At Pennycrocker we keep it simple and charge per person per night, with optional extras:
| Adult | £10 |
|---|---|
| Child (5+) | £5 |
| Electric hook-up | £7 |
| Dog (max two) | £2 each |
| Awnings | Free |
| Showers | Free |
Example costs
- Two adults in a tent, no electric: £20 a night.
- Two adults and two children aged 5+, with electric: £10 + £10 + £5 + £5 + £7 = £37 a night.
- Two adults in a motorhome with electric and one dog: £10 + £10 + £7 + £2 = £29 a night.
Why book direct?
Booking direct with a small campsite means you deal with the people who run it. You can ask questions, explain your needs and get accurate information. It also means the full amount goes to the family running the site. Read more in why book direct.
