In short

A camper's calendar of shows, carnivals and festivals within reach of Boscastle, April to October, with confirmed dates where they have been published.

Summer in north Cornwall is show season. Agricultural shows, carnivals and village festivals fill the calendar, and several happen within a short drive of Lower Pennycrocker Farm. This guide lists the events most useful to campers staying near Boscastle, with confirmed dates where organisers have published them. Our Cornwall events by month post covers events across the whole county.

Dates change from year to year and events are occasionally cancelled, so always check the organiser's website before you plan a trip around one.

May: Padstow May Day

Padstow's 'Obby 'Oss celebrations take place on 1 May (or 2 May when the 1st falls on a Sunday), with music, dancing and two 'osses parading through the streets. It is one of Cornwall's oldest traditions and gets very busy, so arrive early or take the bus via Wadebridge. See our Padstow day trip page.

June: Royal Cornwall Show

The Royal Cornwall Show is Cornwall's biggest annual event, held at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre at Whitecross, near Wadebridge. In 2027 it runs from Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 June. Expect livestock, food halls, trade stands and main-ring displays. Wadebridge is about 35 minutes' drive from the farm. Book a pitch early for show week, as it is a popular time.

July: Launceston Show

The Launceston Agricultural Show is held near Launceston each summer. In 2026 it was on Thursday 30 July. Launceston is about half an hour from us; combine the show with our Launceston day trip ideas.

August: Camelford Show

The Camelford Agricultural Show is held at Trevilla, Marshgate, near Camelford and only a short drive from us. It is a traditional rural show with livestock, horses and family entertainment. In 2026 it was on Wednesday 12 August. This is our most local show and well worth a visit if you are staying in mid-August.

August: Bude Carnival

Bude Carnival is one of the town's big summer days, with a carnival procession through the streets. In 2026 it was on Saturday 15 August. Bude is about 20–25 minutes' drive. See our Bude day trip page.

Autumn: Boscastle food and arts festival

Boscastle has hosted a food, art and crafts festival in the autumn in past years. When we last checked, a date had not been confirmed, so check local listings before planning around it. Our October camping in Cornwall page has more on the end of the season.

Night-sky events

Bodmin Moor is an International Dark Sky Landscape, and local groups sometimes run stargazing evenings. The big annual meteor showers also make great 'events' for campers: see Bodmin Moor dark sky stargazing.

  • Book your pitch early, especially for the Royal Cornwall Show week and August.
  • Check parking and park-and-ride for big shows, and leave early.
