In short

Where to eat out beyond Boscastle village: pubs and cafés at Crackington Haven, Wainhouse Corner, Trebarwith Strand and Tintagel, all a short drive from our campsite.

Boscastle's own pubs are covered in our guide to Boscastle pubs, and our places to eat near Boscastle page lists cafés and picnic ideas. This guide looks a little further afield, at pubs and food within roughly a quarter of an hour's drive of Lower Pennycrocker Farm. Opening times change through the season and some places close on certain days, so always check before you go and book a table at busy times.

Crackington Haven (about five miles)

The Coombe Barton Inn sits right behind the beach at Crackington Haven. It is a classic seaside pub, ideal after a morning on the beach or a walk on the coast path. Combine it with our guide to Crackington Haven.

Note that dogs are banned from Crackington Haven beach from 10am to 6pm between 15 May and 30 September. See dog-friendly beaches in north Cornwall.

Wainhouse Corner (about five miles)

The Old Wainhouse Inn is on the A39 at Wainhouse Corner, a useful stop if you are coming back from Bude or just want a pub supper without heading to the coast. The fuel station at Wainhouse Corner is close by.

Boscastle Farm Shop café

Just outside Boscastle at Hillsborough Farm, the Boscastle Farm Shop has a café alongside its shop, which sells its own meat, deli items, bakes and pasties. Its garden is dog-friendly, although dogs are not allowed in the café or shop. It is also a good place to stock up: see shops, fuel and supplies near Boscastle.

Trebarwith Strand (about 20 minutes)

Trebarwith Strand, south of Tintagel, is a dramatic beach at the bottom of a steep valley. The Port William looks straight out over the sea, and is a popular spot for sunset. The Mill House Inn is in the wooded valley just above the beach. Read our Trebarwith Strand guide for tides and parking, as the beach disappears at high tide.

Tintagel (about seven miles)

Tintagel village has several pubs and plenty of cafés for visitors to the castle. Pubs include King Arthur's Arms, the Tintagel Arms, the Cornishman Inn and the Olde Malt House. It is busy in the middle of the day in summer, but quieter in the evening. See our Tintagel page.

Tips for eating out near Boscastle

  • Book ahead in school holidays and on bank holiday weekends.
  • Check opening days early and late in the season.
  • Plan your drive home on dark lanes, and agree on a driver.
  • Ask about dogs when you book, as rules differ between pubs and between bar and restaurant areas.

Cooking at the farm instead

Many guests eat out a couple of times and cook the rest of the week. We have a washing-up room, which makes cooking on your pitch much easier. Please ask us about barbecues when you arrive.
