Shops, Fuel and Supplies near Boscastle

in our own words

Boscastle harbour, a short drive from the village shops

There is no shop, bar or fuel on site at Lower Pennycrocker Farm. That is part of what keeps it quiet, but it does mean a little planning. This guide lists where our guests usually stock up, from village shops two miles away to the bigger supermarkets in Bude. Opening hours change through the season, so treat the times below as a guide and check before you set off.

Boscastle village (about two miles)

Boscastle is the closest place for everyday supplies.

  • Nisa Local, Penally Hill: a convenience store near the main car park with the Post Office counter inside. The Post Office lists cash withdrawals and deposits among its services, handy if you need cash. Recent listings show long daily hours.
  • Premier Boscastle Stores, Camelford Road: a convenience store in the upper village with fresh fruit and veg, bread, drinks and the basics.
  • Cornish Stores, The Bridge: a village shop by the harbour car park, focused on local produce, Cornish treats and drinks.
  • Boscastle Farm Shop, Hillsborough Farm: a farm shop with butchery, deli, bakery, fresh fruit and veg, Cornish pasties and logs. It lists opening of 9am–5pm daily. Dogs are welcome in the garden but not in the shop or café.

Parking in the village can be busy in summer; our Boscastle parking guide explains the options.

Fuel

There is no fuel station on site or in Boscastle village. The nearest options are along the A39:

  • Wainhouse Corner, on the A39 north of us towards Bude, about five miles by road.
  • Camelford, south of us on the A39, about nine miles by road.
  • Bude, which has more choice.

Fill up before you leave the A39 on your way in, and again before a long drive home. If you drive an electric car, check charging options in the area before you travel. We do not offer car charging, although electric hook-up on your pitch costs £7 a night for your tent, caravan or motorhome.

Supermarkets for a big shop

For a full weekly shop, most guests go to Bude, about 20–25 minutes' drive. Bude has Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Lidl. Camelford has a Co-op on the High Street for a mid-sized shop. Further south, Wadebridge has larger supermarkets, which suits a day out on the Camel Trail.

A simple plan is to do a big shop in Bude on your way in from the A39, then top up with bread, milk and pasties in Boscastle during your stay. Our Bude day trip page has ideas to combine the supermarket run with a beach.

Camping essentials

Camping gas, pegs, torches and similar kit can be hard to find locally, especially late in the season. Bring spares from home: our packing list and seasonal packing guide cover what to bring.

Eating out instead

If you would rather not cook every night, Boscastle has pubs and cafés within a short drive. See places to eat near Boscastle and our guide to pubs and food beyond the village.
