Motorhome Stopover off the A39 near Boscastle

in our own words

Fields above the coast at Lower Pennycrocker Farm, near the A39

The A39 Atlantic Highway runs down the north coast of Devon and into Cornwall, past Bude, Wainhouse Corner and Camelford. Lower Pennycrocker Farm sits about two miles off it, at St Juliot near Boscastle, which makes it an easy stop for motorhomes and campervans touring the north coast. This page explains what to expect if you are planning a stopover or a short stay.

Why stop at Lower Pennycrocker

  • Close to the A39 but quiet: about two miles from the main road, on a working family farm.
  • Grass pitches for motorhomes and campervans, with electric hook-up available at £7 a night.
  • Free showers, toilets, a disabled toilet and a washing-up room.
  • Simple prices: adults £10 a night, children 5+ £5, dogs £2 each (maximum two).
  • The South West Coast Path about half a mile away and Boscastle about two miles away.

Minimum stays can vary by date, so please check the live calendar or ask when you book.

Getting here in a motorhome

Leave the A39 and follow signs towards Boscastle and St Juliot. The final stretch is on narrow lanes with passing places, so drive slowly and be ready to reverse to let others pass. Our getting here page has the step-by-step route, and our post on driving Cornish lanes is worth reading if you have a large vehicle.

Please arrive between 9am and 7pm, when reception is open. If you are delayed, ring 07967 605392.

On site

Pitches are on grass, so bring levelling ramps or chocks: see our guide to levelling a motorhome on grass. Bring your own hook-up cable if you book electric. Fill your fresh water and empty your tanks before you arrive if you can, and see facilities for what we offer. Our motorhome toilet and waste tips cover the basics of planning ahead.

There is no fuel on site. Fill up on the A39 at Wainhouse Corner, Camelford or Bude: see shops, fuel and supplies near Boscastle.

Using the stop to explore

Even on a one- or two-night stop, you can see a lot without moving the van:

  • Walk the coast path from the farm.
  • Take the bus or a taxi into Boscastle and have a pub supper.
  • Catch the 95 bus to Tintagel: see car-free days out from Boscastle.

If you are planning a longer tour, our north Cornwall motorhome route and motorhome packing checklist will help. For more on staying with us in a van, see touring caravans and motorhomes and campervan camping in Cornwall.
