The last few miles

We are at St Juliot, about two miles from Boscastle village and roughly two miles from the A39 Atlantic Highway, which runs between Bude and Camelford. You leave the A39, follow the signs towards Boscastle and St Juliot, and finish on narrow Cornish lanes with passing places.

Take this last stretch slowly, especially if you are towing a caravan or driving a larger motorhome. Be ready to reverse to a passing place, and expect tractors, cyclists and walkers. Our directions page has the route step by step, and our post on driving Cornish lanes explains how passing places work if you have never used them.

Satnavs can choose odd routes in this part of Cornwall, so use the postcode as a guide and the What3Words reference to find the gate. If you are coming down the M5, our route guide from the M5 explains the main options.

What time to arrive

Reception is open from 9am to 7pm. Please aim to arrive within those hours. If you are delayed by traffic, ring us on 07967 605392 and let us know your expected time. Please arrange any arrival outside site hours with us first rather than turning up unannounced, because it is a quiet farm and other guests may be settling down for the evening.

On summer Saturdays the roads into Cornwall are at their busiest, so build in extra time. Our guide to when Boscastle is busy has more on peak days.

Checking in

Lower Pennycrocker is a family-run farm, not a holiday park, so check-in is simple and personal. When you arrive, follow the signs on site. During reception hours one of us (Colin or Karyn) will usually meet you, run through anything you need to know and show you to a pitch.

The fields are large, so take your time choosing where to settle. Pitches are on grass, and you can park beside your pitch, which makes unloading tents, cool boxes and children much easier. If you have booked electric hook-up (£7 a night), bring your own hook-up cable, long enough to reach the bollard. Caravan and motorhome owners will find levelling ramps or chocks useful on grass.

Settling in

  • Showers are free, and there are toilets, a disabled toilet and a washing-up room. See facilities for the full list.
  • There is no shop on site, so stock up before you drive the last few miles. Our page on shops, fuel and supplies near Boscastle lists the nearest options.
  • Dogs are welcome (maximum two, £2 each a night). Please read our dog-friendly camping page before you come.
  • Awnings and pup tents are free.
  • Barbecues: please ask us when you arrive.

The South West Coast Path is about half a mile away, so many guests head straight out for an evening walk. Our post on the coast path from Pennycrocker is a good first read.

Leaving on departure day

When it is time to go, please leave your pitch as you found it and take all rubbish to the bins. If you are towing, allow plenty of time on the lanes and avoid the busiest Saturday mornings in summer if you can. Fill up with fuel before you join the A39 if you are heading a long way, as there is none on site.
